i started this blog as a way to keep myself motivated to make stuff and be happy while i was taking a year off between high school and college and now that i'm in college i've neglected it when i need it even more!  i'm going to do my best to get back to it.  starting with a peek at what i've been up to since i moved back to baltimore!

1) perry and i found the first flush of chanterelles here in maryland a couple weeks ago!  we both ran out after work, separately, because it was about to rain and we knew anything up would get trampled.  it was crazy!  we met up at the end and beamed about what we found.

 

 2) we used about 1/4 of them on this delicious pizza:

 

3) i've been making (or i was until i got my wisdom teeth pulled last week!) delicious summer cocktails! this one is made with purple basil, hendricks gin, lime, simple syrup, and a bit of fizzy water

 

 4) i got SUPER organized this spring before perry moved back in from california, starting with my embroidery thread

 

5) i found my first (dead) cicada of the year and successfully spread and pinned the wings! you have to very carefully interlock the front and back wings to create one smooth movement! i was sure i was going to mess up, but i didn't! it turned out perfect! well, perfect enough for me. on the left is a shell that christine gave me--first one i'd seen from this year!

 

my birthday is on thursday, we're moving into a new apartment (just me and perry! so much more space!) on the 15th, and then school starts up again on the 27th! yikes!

my cats are safe at home.

i moved b-a-c-k to baltimore. jazzy came to get me. we slept in salt lake city, laramie, des moines, chicago, buffalo, and boston.
